Dr.
Authier was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and attended Sioux City
schools with summers spent on the family farm in Jefferson, South
Dakota. He graduated from Sioux City Central High School,
known as the "Castle on the Hill," now listed on the National
Registry of Historical Buildings.
After finishing 4 years of college in
architecture, Dr. Authier was accepted into optometry school and
graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis,
Tennessee, in June of 1963.
He worked briefly in Beatrice and
Omaha before coming to Norfolk in November 1967. In 1968, he
began several years service in Rotary Club, hosting exchange
Rotarians from England and India. He served as District
Advancement Chairman and District Camping Chairman of Diamond Dick
District Boy Scouts of America. In 2001, he received a
plaque commemorating 25 years membership in the Nebraska
Optometric Association.
Dr. Authier and his wife, Sandy, have
3 adult children and 5
grandchildren. |
